September Reads
Oct 07, 2022Three crackers of books this month that I wish everyone could read!
Especially in these uncertain times.
BIG Feelings. How to be okay when things are not okay by Liz Fosslien and Mollie West Duffy @lizandmollie
Say what you mean. A mindful approach to non-violent communication by Oren J. Sofer @orenjaysofer
Permission to feel. Unlock the power of emotions to help yourself and your child thrive by Professor Marc Brackett. @marc.brackett
Please make each of them a priority reading, as soon as you can.
More emotional literacy helps you be more articulate, and more accurate, about your internal experiences.
This skill increases your capacity to be more accurate in your understanding of others’ emotions.
Your improved emotional literacy helps you respond more effectively to your own needs and to the needs of others, improving relationships, well-being, and performance.
Oren Jay Sofer’s book is a re-read for me, and I expect to keep rereading it, often.
He offers lots of incredibly practical ways to embed mindfulness and emotional literacy into our communication giving us the precious opportunity to continually improve our relationships.
I want to give him the last word, from his book:
“To communicate well, to create understanding through awareness, begins and ends with what is inside of you.”
May you be well XS
