February Reads

Feb 24, 2022

Such good reading in February with a focus on kindness, leadership, and the lived experience of being the patient.

Although I work with individual doctors and believe the first step is individual skill and self-awareness, people are not islands.

We live and work within systems and human behavior is contextual, it is always relevant if we want to understand a person’s choices.

We need individual AND systemic development to create a new, better healthcare system.

Dr Anita Campbell and @suerobinsbooks both share their lived experience and their expertise in the health system in Australia and Canada. Both reiterate the importance of listening with curiosity, with an open stance.

There will be more to say about these other three important books in future.

For fun I listened to Billy Connolly’s Windswept and Interesting audiobook - I laughed, cried and marvelled at his extraordinary life. And read Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club.

I recommend them both ☺️

I’d love to know what you’re reading…. πŸ’•πŸ“š
