August reads

Rereading and revisiting three books on mindfulness as I prepare for our retreats.

Thich Nhat Hahn’s teaching has been a powerful anchor for me these past 15 years.
His simple teaching of when we drink tea, drink tea has literally saved me thousands of times.
I have read this book many times over and several other of his books. This is the one that started it all.

You Are Here, Thich Nhat Hahn
Mindfulness: A Practical World to Finding Peace in a Frantic World by Mark Williams and Danny Penman

Breathing Through the Whole Body, Will Johnson
How Doctors Care, Dominic O. Vachon. Could we make this incredible book compulsory reading for all teachers of doctors from university through to supervisors at all levels? I am incredibly grateful for Dominic’s work.

We Come From this Place, Debra Dank. A moving story of this country and it’s first people in a modern context.
Dank shares her family life, painting vivid pictures and story lines from her childhood and as she creates her own family. A gorgeous demonstration of Austalian life through multiple lenses. I wanted to be on country with her as I read.
